Review of Canada by UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights - Release of UN recommendations

The UN's recommendations (in PDF) (Link removed - no longer exists) specifically mention cuts to civil legal aid (they refer to British Columbia in particular), insufficiency of minimum wage and welfare to maintain an adequate standard of living across the country, and problems with workfare programs. They highlight the fact that poverty rates remain very high among disadvantaged and marginalized individuals and groups such as Aboriginal peoples, African-Canadians, immigrants, persons with disabilities, youth, women and single mothers.
