Low-income Families Benefit From Healthy Kids Changes

About 25,000 more children in low-income families qualify for full basic dental and optical care coverage due to changes to the BC Healthy Kids program. With this change, all children whose families receive premium assistance under the Ministry of Health's Medical Services Plan can now have basic dental and optical care coverage of up to $700 a year from the Ministry of Social Development and Economic Security. The change means about 25,000 children who received 50 per cent optical and dental coverage are now eligible for 100 per cent coverage.
