Homelessness Study Supports Social Housing Policy

Provincial government policies focused on building affordable housing have been effective in the slowing the growth of homelessness, says a comprehensive study. The four-volume report, called Homelessness - Cause and Effects describes homelessness in B.C.; reviews the relationship between homelessness and the health, criminal justice and social service systems; examines government policies in Canada; and estimates the cost of homelessness to governments. The first volume of the report, a literature review of homelessness, was released in February.
