Reconciliation Week aims to build new relationships

For more then 120 years thousands of Aboriginal children in BC were taken from their families and forced to attend residential schools where they were stripped of their language, culture and traditions and often faced sexual and physical abuse.

Next week the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC), which has been travelling around the country collecting testimonies from residential school survivors, will be in Vancouver. Organizers are holding a Reconciliation Week and are inviting Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people to engage in dialogues that they hope will revitalize these relationships.

See the Reconciliation Canada website for information about events through out the week.
