National movement launched to end homelessness in 10 years

A new national movement to end homelessness was launched last week to end homelessness in ten years. The mission of the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness is to create a national movement to prevent and end homelessness in Canada.

Building on the success of communities like Calgary, the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness plans to work with communities and organizations on the ground to shift the focus from managing homelessness to a system focused on ending it.

They want to move from crisis responses (like shelters and soup kitchens) to solutions – permanent, appropriate, safe and affordable housing with the support necessary to sustain it.
