City of Vancouver sues landlords of two rooming houses

The City of Vancouver has taken its complaints about the landlords of two Downtown Eastside rooming houses to court. Staff and councillors referred to the owners as slum lords and described problems at the buildings, such as infestation. B.C. Supreme court will hear the City's arguments for injunctive relief.

The buildings in question, one on Cordova and a second on Hastings, have been a target for the city for years. Conditions there have been described as unsafe, and in contravention of city bylaws.
