No where to go for women fleeing violence in oil sands town

In the town at the heart of the oil sands, the women's transition house is struggling to house women fleeing abuse. This year the transition house was forced to turn over 400 women and their children away because the aging shelter was already over capacity. The province has grown rich off the oil sands and transition house workers are asking the province to pay for the effects the oil sands are having on the community. The province of Alberta has the second highest reported rate of domestic violence in Canada.
