Women in Canada: the poorest of the poor

A new report from CCPA shows that Canada still has shockingly high rates of women's poverty and that the recession has sidelined government polices to address women’s poverty. Women tend to be among the poorest of the poor with Canada's most vulnerable populations which includes Aboriginal people, people from racialized communities, recent immigrants, elders and people with disabilities. The report finds that 24% of women in Canada raising children on their own are poor, among other findings.
