Vancouver Island Human Rights Coalition

Advocacy Description:

VIHRC serves people from the Greater Victoria as well as the Gulf Islands and other communities on Vancouver Island.

Our focus is to assist people who wish to file a human rights complaint with the BC Human Rights Tribunal.

We also assist individuals who have nowhere else to turn and may have barriers in accessing larger resource centers. A barrier to accessing services might include English as a secondary language, recent immigration status, people who have experienced racism or homophobia or transphobia, people with limited incomes, homeless people, lone parents and individuals with cognitive or physical disabilities to name only a few. Sometimes our assistance takes the form of a referral to another community organization that is better equipped in a particular area.
