PovNet's purpose is:

  • To create and maintain electronic communication networks among poverty law advocates and community workers which are useful, useable, confidential and cost efficient and which improve their ability to assist clients with administrative law problems.
  • To provide public access to current legal information about welfare, housing, employment, workers' rights and other poverty law subjects and links to anti-poverty issues, organizations and resources provincially, nationally and internationally.
  • To assist people who are physically, mentally, socially, economically or otherwise marginalized and those who represent them as well as community groups and individuals involved in anti-poverty work to address access to justice issues through an integration of offline and online technology and resources.
  • To offer online courses for advocates and community workers in order to further their education and training in the anti-poverty law area.
